CURATED CORNERS
Every new chapter in life brings a different way of living. For the owners of Curated Corners, whose two children were overseas, moving from a 2,500-square-foot family home into a 1,430-square-foot apartment marked more than a change in address. It was an opportunity to thoughtfully reconsider what they wanted their next phase of life to be.
Downsizing inevitably brings constraints. Fewer rooms, less wall space and a more modest footprint require every decision to be made with greater clarity. Rather than attempting to recreate the generosity of their previous home, the design embraces a process of careful editing — retaining what matters most, while allowing unnecessary layers to fall away. The result is not a home defined by less, but one shaped by greater intention.
The arrival sequence immediately establishes this mindset. As the private lift opens, a mirrored cabinet visually extends the foyer, while a leather-lined bench framed by continuous wild teak panelling creates a quiet place to pause. Positioned along the arrival axis, a carefully selected work introduces one of the few dedicated moments for art within the apartment — a conscious decision that gives each piece greater significance.

This same philosophy continues throughout the home. Wild teak panelling flows seamlessly from the entrance through the living spaces and private corridor, integrating storage, concealing doors and creating an uninterrupted architectural language. Within the open living and dining room, a bespoke banquette wrapped by a softly curved alcove reclaims valuable space for gathering. An angled bar quietly echoes the geometry of the master bedroom dresser, establishing subtle moments of visual continuity.
Existing furniture from the owners' previous home was curated rather than replaced. A cherished Eames Lounge Chair finds new life alongside the playful Camaleonda sofa, demonstrating that meaningful objects need not be sacrificed simply because a home becomes smaller. Elsewhere, rooms were reimagined around changing needs: a shared study for everyday use, and a flexible hobby room that transforms into a guest suite whenever family returns from abroad.
Rather than recreating the home they left behind, Curated Corners embraces a new chapter of living — one where every room, object and detail has earned its place. It reflects our belief that meaningful design is not about adding more, but about making thoughtful decisions.
